Kramer’s figurative sculptures are unique in their use of bronze, a historically significant medium employed by sculptors since antiquity.
His contemporary visual stories developed through this classical medium speak to Kramer’s strong artistic technique. Kramer’s deep understanding of the bronze casting process sets himself as an artist as well as his work distinctly apart from other contemporary sculptors. His well-established body of work includes bronze bas relief and figurative sculptures depicting a wide range of subject matter, most recently this includes Zodiac Astrology and Parisian Culture and Landmark Scenes.
In addition to private collections, Kramer has created large-scale commissioned public sculptures throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Mark Kramer is both a sculptor and a professional architect. Kramer initially studied his craft with the internationally acclaimed sculptor Milton Hebald in Bracciano, Italy in the 1970s. He holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC and a Master’s Degree of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. He has attended programs at the Beaux Arts in Fontainebleau, France and Notre Dame University in Rome, Italy. Kramer is a respected board member on the Bethesda Urban Partnership Board and a consultant to the Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District of Bethesda, Maryland. As an active member of the American Institute of Architects-Potomac Valley Chapter, Kramer’s education and background in architecture has enhanced his understanding of history and design in all of his sculptures.
