Bethesda Urban Partnership “Gallery B” Show opens Oct. 15

Presented by Bethesda Urban Partnership
Sept. 16, 2011 (BETHESDA, MD) – The Bethesda Urban Partnership and the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District introduce Mark Kramer, local sculptor/architect at Gallery B, their exciting new community gallery space in Bethesda, Maryland from October 12, 2011 through November 5, 2011. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12pm – 6pm, and a public opening reception will be held in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, October 14 from 6-9pm.

As a sculptor and architect in the Metropolitan area for over 25 years, Mark Kramer will show, A Retrospective of Figurative Bronzes, which are a series of new and prior Bronze Bas Relief sculptures. Kramer will be the first artist to exhibit work at the space from October 12 through November 5, 2011. His latest works are Parisian themes that depict interpretations of French cultural landmarks at locales throughout the French landscape. The French pieces are complemented by the Zodiac Series, a collection of dramatic visual scenes inspired by the symbolism of astrological signs.

Kramer uses the special technique of lost wax bronze casting method. Sculptors today do not typically utilize this technique. This is a chance to see contemporary sculptures through the process created from a classical medium. His pieces infuse character, personality and story with the craft of clay sculpture and bronze casting.

Mark Kramer is a native from Bethesda, Maryland. He has worked extensively on private collections, in addition to creating several public commissioned works, such as “Lyrical Lady,” a landmark sculpture located in the downtown Bethesda business district.

An opening reception will be held on October 15 from 5:00 – 8:00PM. A portion of all proceeds generated by the opening will be donated to the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District.
